Welcome to Janice Glover's Home PageHomeProjectsLinksImages
You have reached the web site of Janice Glover, a dedicated teacher in the Corning Painted Post School system since 1976. This site has been designed to help you better understand my teaching methods and guiding principles. Please come back often!

My Philosophy of Teaching:

I listen and watch the children to practice my craft of teaching, then, I make instant and reflective decisions about what is important for their growth. For growth to occur, I need to know their strengths. These strengths become the vehicles for them to learn information.

We need to offer, often, fundamental facts and skills in all content areas to our children so that they can handle words, express themselves fluently and listen.

You can continue to be your child’s first and best teacher by explaining the world to them. You can do this by; explaining the TV news, reading nightly to them, talking to them about their writing, visiting local attractions, retelling your childhood and more. If you already do these things give yourself an A!

Academic Emphasis

A thread of cultural importance runs throughout my curriculum. I believe the children need to know how important they are so they need to listen to you talk about their family roots. Then, as we study cultures from around the world, your children can compare and appreciate others. Before we tour the world, we first study Erwin Valley. Did you know that Erwin Valley School supports seventeen different cultures?
